Silver at the 2014 IPA Effectiveness Awards for the Aldi Swap & Save campaign. The idea behind the campaign was to strip away the smoke and mirrors to deliver a simple, yet compelling cost saving argument. We cast real shoppers and simply asked them to compare a 4 week shop at their old supermarket with a 4 week shop at Aldi. The results spoke for themselves and the resulting campaign delivered a genuine switch in consumer’s shopping habits.

Wow! Our Aldi Christmas 60 second commercial has landed Ad of the day on Campaign Live. Looks like all the hard work paid off! The ad, airs for the first time on Thursday 6th November during Emmerdale on ITV1, running with the tagline ‘Everyone’s coming to us this Christmas’, underlining Aldi’s increasing popularity with consumers and extensive product offering. The 60-second ad opens with a family full of festive cheer enjoying a fine Christmas fayre around the table, seamlessly linking to other families, friends and co-workers around the globe enjoying award-winning food and drink, all available at Aldi. There’s even an appearance by Jools Holland towards the end of the advert playing the theme music on his black grand piano, accompanied by his band. We are pleased to announce our appointment by Clas Ohlson to join their European creative team. The Swedish hardware store chain and mail-order firm is the biggest of its type in Scandinavia, with stores in Norway, Finland, a growing presence in the UK and plans to expand into Germany. Our appointment to the business is very exciting. First and foremost, we love the brand. Second, it's a great opportunity to put our retail experience to use on UK and Europe wide projects.

Why run an ad when you can muster up a meteorite strike instead? The task was to bring maximum attention to Eden TV’s Science Month, a collection of the most fascinating and awe-inspiring programmes in the universe. Londoners awoke to news that a meteorite had struck a taxi in the heart of the city’s busy shopping district, Covent Garden. An incident team arrived almost immediately to cordon off the area and keep the public at a safe distance. There was even amateur video footage of the event on YouTube to add to the public confusion. The well-orchestrated PR stunt was dreamt up by the guys at Red Bee Media, with help from yours truly. Science Month will run all day, every day during the month of July. Highlights in the first week include Wonders of the Universe, Finding Life Beyond Earth, The Code and Deadliest Volcano.

It has the complete editorial content since the beginnings of Lürzer´s Archive back in 1984 and lets you access over 40,000 print ads and 6,000 TV spots worldwide. Better still, there’s even some of our own work available to view on there.

The new ‘Made By Dave’ campaign is now breaking across the UK. Working alongside Red Bee Media, we were involved in developing the multimedia campaign that launches four shows produced exclusively for Dave. ‘Driving Wars’ features state of the art robotics, radio control technology and high speed video links to create the ultimate driving competition. ‘Jo Brand's Big Splash’ sees the trailblazing comedian explore the nation’s relationship with water. ‘Argumental’ is back for a fourth series and ‘Dave's One Night Stand’ returns for a third series with it’s unique take on stand-up. The creative work has great standout and is already getting good feedback, which is always nice!

The long awaited Inbetweeners Movie gets it’s UK release on August 19th. If the trailer is anything to go by, the near to the knuckle humor should make it a runaway success. Golden Wonder is getting in on the action with ‘The Nations Noodle’ teaming up with The Inbetweeners Movie for a stand-out summer promotion. Freelancing through Savvy Marketing - Leeds, we helped to develop the ‘Passport to Malia’ promotion which offers hundreds of Inbetweeners-inspired prizes, including ‘instant win’ golden tickets that guarantee recipients a one-week holiday courtesy of Club 18-30. The promotion is supported by press ads that will run across key lad’s, film and football magazines, while 500 hotels, restaurants and cafes will carry branded beer mats and washroom posters. It’s a great tie up for Golden Wonder that should give them some real cut through.

We were approached by Wrecking Ball, based out in San Francisco to provide localised creative solutions to increase responses when emailing customers globally. A series of new campaigns have now been created and more innovative email marketing techniques developed.

They needed to create a new suite of work to launch their 'Assist' membership scheme to help SMEs save money and gain a competitive advantage in today’s challenging construction industry. With a requirement for stills and film, we worked with Alex Telfer to ensure quality and consistency throughout.

We're glad to see another client reaping the rewards from an effective campaign and seeing their success recognised. The 'World's Fastest Human Chopper' campaign for Very Lazy, which we were involved in developing through the Brand Nursery has won in the Grocer Top Campaigns of 2010. The advertising activity brought in some excellent results with Very Lazy sales up +31% year on year.

'Never Ending Discounts' aims to re-affirm Aldi's position in the marketplace as a retailer that offers it's customers consistently low prices and not short term price cuts and offers. Freelancing at McCann Manchester, we helped to create the new positioning and expand the campaign thought.

When providing the thinking behind a Website, you don’t want to be stifled by predictable functionality, tired page layouts and reams of content. So when developing Miele Inspiration, we recognised there was a great opportunity to deliver a site that bucked the trend. As a creative team, we believe you can say a lot, by not saying much at all. So we created a simple, stripped back design, with beautiful scrolling imagery that amerced the user in the brand and it’s prestigious range of high-end products. The result was more than just a flash site, but a experiential showcase that works hard to sell Miele’s integrated appliances. Style, design and aesthetics are a running theme throughout. And if you doubt that a microwave oven can ever look sexy, then it might be worth a look.

With freelance creative work through the Brand Nursery in Leeds, we have recently developed a through-the-line campaign for the EPC food brand, Very Lazy. 10” & 40” second TV commercials, cinema and an on-line film, were shot on location in Romania through Chief Productions Manchester and director Ben Tonge. A series of outdoor and press executions were also developed, shot by John Parker through Noelle Represents.

Following a brief from home appliance manufacturer Miele, we were tasked to produce high impact creative that emphasized the longevity and enduring quality of the brand. This was achieved by shooting dramatic and surreal landscapes on location in Scotland and the Dolomite Mountains in Italy. A mountain of shirts, a beach of crockery and an endless road of carpet were all composed by Photographer George Kavanagh, through Noelle Represents. Retouching was handled by Happy Finish London.

Aimed at advertising at design creatives, the idea was to tap into the frustration of not being able to get creative work out. Killing off the people who get in the way of a good idea set the right tone for these tongue- in-cheek creative awards.

Great to be involved in a new product launch. In this case, the new S7 Upright Vacuum Cleaner from Miele. With it’s head tuning technology, we created a room environment where the vacuum skilfully navigated its way around falling objects. To film this, we got to use a serious bit of kit, namely the Phantom 35/HD High Speed Camera. Being able to shoot at 1052 fps with 1920 x 1080P resolution allowed for some beautiful shots of falling objects. OK, so shooting the cat was tricky, as both it and the handler started to get seriously frustrated after finding out about the 15 ft drop. The cat was some kind of a feline superstar. Apparently it had a major role in ‘Meet the Fockers’, so was insured for a small fortune. (On reflection, dropping it off a ladder was probably not the best idea).

Simplicity wins the day again. Our business to business DM piece for Sarah Craven - TV producer scooped two Gold awards at the Drum's Roses Awards. We kept the information to an absolute minimum and this really gave the piece impact. For those outside the advertising industry, a 'Call Sheet' is given out before shooting a TV commercial. It usually contains all the contact details of the people involved and key information on locations, times, etc. We thought it was quite a sweet idea to make it appear as though only one person 'the producer' mattered.

Our Yorkshire Air Ambulance work continues to pick up awards. This time with a place in the 2007 Creative Review Annual. Great to see it in there amongst the best of the year’s work. It was really worth the time and effort needed to get the project up and running. An enthusiastic and willing client was also a massive help.

Meadowhall Shopping Centre looks to relaunch after substantial damage to both the store and its profile during the Jun 2007 floods. A major refurbishment was announced through a heavyweight above the line campaign which included a 40 second TV commercial. Shot by the Mob film company and directed by Jason Fisher-Jones, the ad called for multiple locations and CGI work to give the spot impact and scale.

Our recent work for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity picked up at the Campaign Poster Awards. What a result! Beating Leo Burnett, JWT, Ogilvy London, M&C Saatchi and Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO was some achievement. The standard of the work was high, but I think we managed to pip the rest on originality. Not too many Northern agencies made it down to the Grosvener, so for Poulters, it was also a big achievement.

It’s safe to say we’re a hard working freelance creative team, but we also insist our ideas work overtime to deliver great results. Delivering creative ideas that sell is our number one objective. We do this by looking for individualism, a point of difference that will ensure a brand cuts through in an increasingly cluttered world.
How a brand is identified, perceived and remembered can all be enhanced when you choose to work with an experienced freelance creative team. We always aim to arrive at a strong central theme for a campaign. We also ensure it works perfectly across all communication platforms. Here, it’s worth pointing out that we are a creative team that is never confined to just creating ads. We understand that a successful strategy might be as simple as a packaging re-design, or triggering word of mouth amongst the customer base. Thinking about traditional mediums, as well as new ones ensures the right message gets through and the brief’s objectives are consistently met.
You’ll be working with a freelance creative team that has won numerous advertising and design awards. Now that doesn’t mean much unless we put it into context. As a creative team we have a comprehensive knowledge of brand building through TV, cinema, viral, on-line films and radio. This experience covers clients from many different sectors, with varying sizes of budget. From storyboard and script, through to filming and post-production, we are frequently called upon to create effective ideas, across all broadcast mediums.
Whether it’s a 96-sheet poster or the smallest of small space ads, we are a creative team with a track record of producing simple, powerful, memorable campaigns that grab the hearts and minds of the target audience. We know that consumers won’t be looking out for a brand, so the message needs to cut through to make a difference and deliver results.
We are also called upon to implement disruptive strategies in the form of guerilla or ambient advertising. This often means taking traditional marketing tactics and turning them on their head to provide innovative new avenues to get a brand message across.
